Newsletter #22 - The early March 2021 Thessaly [Greece] Earthquake Sequence

The 22th issue of the "Newsletter of Environmental, Disaster, and Crisis Management Strategies", published under the auspices of the Postgraduate Program "Environmental, Disaster and Crisis Management Strategies" of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is the result of a constructive cooperation and exchange of knowledge between geologists, seismologists, physicists, geographers, and civil engineers of the country. Driven by scientific excellence and excellent quality, they followed with various methods and approaches the seismic sequence at the beginning of March in the northeastern part of the Thessalian plain and its accompanying effects, resulting in mapping and interpreting the phenomena. The seismic sequence includes the main earthquake on March 3 with magnitude Mw=6.3 and the earthquake of magnitude Mw=6.1 on March 4, which struck the same area.

It is a collaboration result among scientific groups of universities, organizations, institutes, centers and national authorities, including the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Patras, the Democritus University of Thrace, the Harokopio University, the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the Hellenic Geological and Mineral Research Authority, and the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization (EPPO).
